Who should buy the Adidas Adizero Ambition
The Adidas Adizero Ambition is best suited for the following:
- mid-distance runs (800-1500m)
- steeplechase
Who should NOT buy the spike
Beginner runners who are just starting out the sport or train occasionally may want to consider the Adidas Distancestar or the Nike Zoom Rival D 10 instead.
Speed up with the Ambition
In the forefoot of the Adizero Ambition track spike, a huge chunk of Lightstrike Pro foam is embedded which creates a propulsive feel during toe-off. Although generous in amount, the Lightstrike foam does not weigh the track shoe down. It's the brand's lightest, most cutting-edge foam to date! Combined with the stiff Internal Wishbone Plate, it makes one of Adidas's flagship track spikes for setting personal bests.
Based on the runners' feedback, the spike is highly bouncy, springy, responsive, has a lot of pop to it, and is simply ideal for racing. As some of them also say, the shoe "keeps you on your toes" and "felt like I was floating in the air."
Comfort is not sacrificed
A few expert shoe reviewers took note of the fact that the Adizero Ambition manages to deliver efficient propulsion while still offering enough comfort and cushioning. According to one of them, this "helps keep your legs fresh for the next session." Another athlete reports that after doing a whole training session in the shoe it "felt just as comfortable as the beginning of the workout."
Contributing to the pleasant experience are the soft, sock-like interiors of the shoe as well as the cushy insole.
There were only a couple of complaints regarding the massive foam piece in the forefoot which "puts your feet in a weird position." So, this Adidas spike took some to get used to for a few people.
The foot stays fresh
With its nearly translucent upper material, the Ambition keeps the foot very well-ventilated.
Adizero Ambition is snug around the foot
As stated by the runners, the Adidas Adizero Ambition holds the foot very securely. There is no slippage on the corners at all. Just make sure to order the right size.
Be careful when pulling the tongue
More than one person ended up breaking the tongue away from the stitching when putting on the spike the very first time.
Adidas' sustainable approach
Moving in the direction of ending plastic waste, the upper of the Adizero Ambition track spike is made with recycled content. According to the brand, 25% of the upper has been produced with a minimum of 50% recycled materials such as cutting scraps and post-consumer household waste.
