Adidas A3 Twinstrike History
Three-stripes Adidas Originals has reached back to the early 2000s, dragging the Adidas Twinstrike, which was the first shoe to utilize the podular A3 cushioning in both the rearfoot and the forefoot areas, into the present day. In March 2017, Adidas unveiled the Adidas A3 Twinstrike, which showcases the brand’s early venture into energy returning cushioning.
This sneaker has a combination of mesh, synthetic leather overlays and TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) detailing in its upper, very similar to the original. Moreover, the sneaker is equipped with the distinctive A3 cushioning in the midsole, composed of compartments that flex and spring back as the foot rolls forward. The shoe also features an elevated heel for added comfort.
Although the Adidas A3 Twinstrike is a blast from the past, there is nothing old or outdated about this futuristic-looking shoe.
Adidas A3 Twinstrike Style
For over 60 years, Adidas has been a leader in creating performance products as well as trend-setting styles. Its popular sub-brand, Adidas Originals, has a global reputation for street-savvy design, and the Adidas A3 Twinstrike embodies the label’s universal standing when it comes to street style.
This low-top version of a chunky running shoe sports a futuristic aesthetic with its highly visible cushioning. Voluminous yet light, this sneaker is ideal for everyday casual. The shoe is offered in several color schemes, including monochromatic black or white.
Fit & Sizing
Many of the shoes under Adidas Originals are unisex, and the Adidas A3 Twinstrike is one of them. This shoe is available in men’s sizes 4 to 14, in medium width (D). In general, women need to go 1.5 sizes down from their normal size to get their usual fit.
A standout feature of the Adidas A3 Twinstrike is its unique A3 cushioning system. It features a full-length midsole comprised of gaps and hollowed out TPU spheres, utilizing EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) in the forefoot and heel. The A3 cushioning is designed to provide a responsive cushioning, as well as a smooth heel-to-toe transition and guidance. Specific geometry and levels of firmness address each phase of the foot strike.
- For added comfort and a better fit, the sneaker utilizes an OrthoLite sock-liner.
- The shoe is equipped with a durable rubber outsole unit for reliable traction.
